Chat GPT: Boom or Doom?

Are you ready for the AI Revolution? Ready or not, Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and it will be part of our students' lives moving forward. While some might see "doom" on the horizon, others are figuring out ways to leverage AI to their advantage. For example, I used a variety of AI tools to create my own content. Scroll down to see the stunning results that took about 8 minutes to create from start to finish...Here's how I did it:

Step 1
: I asked ChatGPT to draft a script. Here is the prompt I used and ChatGPT's response:
Me
Imagine you are the British naturalist, David Attenborough. You are preparing a documentary about the behavior of animals in Africa that use the same watering hole. Write a short script about what you observe as a herd of elephants approaches the watering hole.

ChatGPT:

[David Attenborough, standing by a watering hole in the African savannah, holding a microphone]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: Here on the African savannah, the watering hole is a vital resource for many species of animals. And while it may seem like a peaceful oasis, it can also be a source of conflict and competition.

[Camera pans out to show a group of elephants approaching the watering hole]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: Here comes a herd of elephants, the largest land animals on earth. They are coming to quench their thirst after a long day of foraging. But as they approach the watering hole, they are not alone.

[Camera shows other animals, such as zebras and antelopes, already gathered around the watering hole]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: These elephants must share this precious resource with other animals. And while they are not known to be aggressive towards other species, their sheer size can be intimidating.

[Camera shows elephants trumpeting and splashing water as they drink, causing smaller animals to back away]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: As the elephants drink, they create waves and splashes that send other animals scrambling for safety. But the elephants don't seem to mind. They are focused on getting as much water as they can before moving on.

[Camera shows elephants using their trunks to spray water over their backs and cool off in the heat]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: Elephants are incredibly intelligent creatures, with complex social structures and a deep understanding of their environment. And here at the watering hole, we can see them in action, adapting to the challenges of sharing this vital resource with their fellow animals.

[Camera shows elephants moving away from the watering hole, as other animals cautiously approach to take their turn]

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: As the sun sets on the African savannah, the watering hole remains a hub of activity, a place where different species come together to meet their basic needs. And as we continue to observe the behaviors of these magnificent animals, we gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of life in this remarkable ecosystem.

Step 2:  I copied the script that ChatGPT generated and pasted it into a platform called play.ht (I signed up for a free trial that lasted just a few days). I turned the text into an .mp3 file that features a male voice with a British accent. I saved the mp3 file to my computer.

Step 3: I used Bing Image Creator (this one is free) to turn text into a series of 4 images. I selected the one I liked the most and saved it to my computer.

My prompt: David Attenborough narrating a scene facing the camera in front of a watering hole on the African savannah as elephants approach behind him

The results:

Step 4: Using the image and audio files I saved to my computer, the final step was to upload both to a platform called D-ID to create an animated mp4 video (D-ID has a free trial period before you are prompted to subscribe for a fee).

Here's the final result:
