June Professional Development Opportunities

June 21, 2018: Stop the Bleed Training

Injury results from a wide variety of causes, including accidents or intentional harm, and in a wide variety of locations, such as your home or workplace. It is important that as many people as possible survive their injuries if they sustain trauma. Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. The greater number of people who know how to control bleeding in an injured patient, the greater the chances of surviving that injury. You can help save a life by knowing how to stop bleeding if someone, including yourself, is injured.

Tales from the Classroom: Flipgrid for a Fond Farewell

Flipgrid is one of the hottest Ed-Tech tools of 2018, providing students with a platform to share their voices in brief video snippets (Check out my blog post from March for more about Flipgrid). One of the more innovative ways elementary teachers at West Genesee are using Flipgrid, however, is not necessarily for instruction. Split Rock teachers Ann Davis-Allen and Kristen Lockwood set up Flipgrid topics and shared the links with current and former students to offer well-wishes in honor of Midge Werth and Peg Curtain's well-deserved retirement. See below and best of luck, not only to Midge and Peg, but to all of West Genesee's dedicated faculty and staff who will be retiring in 2018! Note: The password to view the Grid is "Splitrock" (all one word, capital S, no quotes).

Happy Retirement to Mrs. Curtin
